The Designer Emulation Kits are meant as the sincerest homage to some of the greatest modern designers of our time. The lamps and designers being “emulated” have a particular importance in the history of design.
Each kit is made of separate parts, which are snapped off, fitted together, and plugged into a nine-volt battery (not included), resulting in a miniature classic.
The first in the series, DEK #1, pays homage to Ingo Maurer's Lucellino, one of the most celebrated lighting products in history. DEK2 (see additional photos) is based on the classic Arco by Achille Castiglioni. DEK3, (see additional photos) takes the form of the famous Tizio by Richard Sapper. DEK4 (see additional photos) returns to Castiglioni for inspiration and emulates his celebrated Toio. And finally, DEK5 (see additional photos) completes the series with Philippe Stark's Miss K, the first DEK to have its own diffusing shade, just like its muse.
